GAMCA / Wafid medical test: step by step
The pre-departure medical for Gulf work visas — how to book it safely, what is tested, and what to take.
Most Gulf countries require a medical test before they issue a work visa. The test is done at a GCC-approved medical centre in India. It used to be known as GAMCA; bookings are now made through Wafid.
Book only on the official site
Book your appointment on the official Wafid portal: wafid.com. Many look-alike websites use “Wafid” or “GAMCA” in their names and charge extra. Check the web address carefully before you pay.
Step by step
-
Get your job offer and confirm which country the medical is for.
-
Book on wafid.com: choose the country, your city, and enter your passport details.
-
Pay the fee shown on the official portal and save your appointment slip.
-
Go to the medical centre on the date given, with your documents.
-
Collect or check your result as the centre instructs, and share it with your employer or agent.
What to take
- Original passport and photocopies
- Passport-size photos
- Appointment slip
- Any documents your employer or agent asks for
What is usually tested
A general physical check, chest X-ray, blood and urine tests (for example for infectious diseases), and sometimes other tests depending on the country and job. Follow the centre’s instructions, such as fasting, if asked.
If you are declared unfit
Ask the centre for the reason in writing. Some conditions can be treated and re-tested; others may make you ineligible for that country. Be careful of anyone offering to “fix” a medical result for money — this is illegal and can get you deported.
